In the decade before covid-19 the wealthiest 1% of Americans had, in aggregate, about twice as much in cash and chequable bank deposits as the bottom 50%.
And it will take those ten years to accumulate enough interest payments on, let's say, a low deposit checking account, to make any sort of down payment or big purchase. And this changes that.
Both companies made their fortunes building and selling ATMs to banks, but there's only so many banks in the world who need ATMs and so much innovation to be had with cash withdrawals and check deposits.
